Grief Support Curriculum
The My Journey curriculum enables staff to facilitate small grief support groups for youth. Specifically designed for youth who have experienced loss in their life, this curriculum engages the youth in a series of 8 sessions that seek to create discussion and activities to address the grief their are experiencing. Both the High School/Middle School Curriculum and Elementary School Curriculum offer a facilitators guide and 10 interactive workbooks.
Overview
Learn the impact of loss on children. We will cover how the loss affects various ages differently and what the typical stages of grief are. Schools and youth-serving organizations need to be able to offer support and feel prepared when dealing with grief issues.
My Journey Workbooks include 8 chapters, designed to be led in an 8-10 week format. The topics include:
- Feelings
- Beliefs
- My Story
- Changes
- Balance
- Connections
- Memories.
This unique set was developed after years of facilitating grief groups by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. It is designed to walk youth through the stages of grief and celebrate their progress in facing their challenges.
